Biography

Dr. Nallapaneni is a transdisciplinary energy and sustainability engineerÌýmainly focuses on building sustainable and resilient systems across critical infrastructure sectors (CISs) by adoptingÌýnexus thinking and systems innovationÌýwith an emphasis on circular business models and digital transition. HeÌýhadÌýworked on key sustainability challenges that include design, performance modelling and analysis of cleanÌýenergy and environmental systems,Ìýe-mobility systems and charging infrastructure modelling, food-energy-water-waste nexus, industrial symbiosis, waste valorisation and material passports, carbon accounting and pricing. He possesses an interdisciplinaryÌýskill setÌýthat includes performance analytics, techno-economics, life cycle assessment, digital innovation (blockchain, IoT, smart contracts, and AI), business model innovation, nexus systems design. HisÌýresearch works are simulation, experimental, real-time empirical and location or climate-specific studies. He authored and co-authored more than 150 research articles, 50 conference papers and posters andÌý14 book chapters and holding various editorial positions in the journals at a level of Associate Editor, Academic Editor, Editorial Board Member, Early CareerÌýEditorial Board Member,ÌýYouth Editor, Guest (Associate or Managing) Editor in publishers like Frontiers, Elsevier, MDPI, Springer Nature and Others.

Dr. Nallapaneni did his PhD in Digital Circular Economy from School ofÌýEnergy and Environment atÌýCity University of Hong Kong (CityU), Hong Kong SAR. He holds two master’s degrees, one in Renewable Energy Technologies from Karunya University, India and the other in Environmental Economics from Annamalai University, India and a bachelorÌýdegreeÌýin Electrical and Electronics Engineering from GITAM University, India.ÌýBefore joining the CityU, heÌýworked as a Research Fellow at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Malaysia researching on using solar photovoltaics as urban and rural infrastructure considering the socio-technical constraints. Earlier to this he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, at Bharat Institute of Engineering and Technology affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, India and Energy Engineer at Atiode Solar Systems Limited, Benin City, Nigeria.ÌýHe is also into entrepreneurship; co-founded V-Surf Limited at Hong Kong, a startup producing food-waste derivedÌýbiosurfactants in crude and/or biosurfactant derived green products to market at an affordable price while solving the key sustainability challenges in the biosurfactants as well as the biosurfactant derived green products value chain. He also co-founded HICCER – Hariterde International Council of Circular Economy Research, the first research and development council to formulate guidelines for and grant Accreditation To Offer Circular Economy Consultancy, Education, Research, and Programs (ATOCE-C, E, R, P), to initiate and execute Mission Circular India program for accelerating circular economy transition in India, to support institutions and industry to establish Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Circularity and ResiliencyÌýto promote circular economy-centric education and research driven by circular business models for building circular, sustainable, and resilient CISs.
