At ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva, one of our key values and behaviours is student first!

One of the things that we should all be aware of is mental health. It affects almost everyone at some point in their lives and it is something we should all prioritise.

As a student at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva, you are undeniably familiar with the demands of academic life. The educational journey can be a long and gruelling experience. Not only are you juggling coursework, assignments and exams, which can all be overwhelming, but we are here to say don’t worry you are never alone! This is exactly why it is extremely vital to put your mental health and well-being at the forefront and not to the side for a later date.

Fortunately, we at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva are committed to supporting its students in this aspect, and following our values student first we aim to provide and assist with wellness on campus and online. 1. Talk to staff on campus:

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva recognises the importance of mental health, and we are here to listen and help if possible! We encourage our student to take advantage of wildly available resources, such as counselling services, to address any personal challenges you may face. As we all know, it is great to speak to a trained professional who can can provide guidance, coping strategies, and a safe space to express any concerns that you may have. The staff at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva always have an open door and we believe that it is important for students to nurture positive relationships with faculty members, mentors, and classmates. Establishing connections with people who support your academic and personal growth can contribute to your overall well-being and happiness. We strongly recommend that you seek guidance and engage in meaningful conversations when needed and additionally help others who are in a similar place.

2. Practice Self-Care and Balance:

Participating in self-care activities is essential for maintaining a solid and strong mental well-being. We recommend that you prioritise activities that help you relax and recharge. These can include practicing mindfulness, exercising regularly, getting minimum 8 hours of sleep and engaging in hobbies or creative outlets outside of work and studying. Remember, self-care looks different for everyone! It is important to find what works best for you. Finding a balance between your academic life, social life and personal time is also a key factor in maintaining good mental health. Overachieving may have good intentions, but remember to set realistic goals, establish strong boundaries, and prioritise self-reflection. Journaling can help with your self reflection. By managing your time wisely and finding a healthy balance, you can reduce stress and prevent burnout.

3. Connect Platform!

Building a strong support system is crucial for your mental health. The connect platform is an educational platform available to all enrolled students. This is an educational platform where there are open discussing, online library and chats as well as news updates. Here you can connect with your peers and share resources. Sharing experiences, discussing challenges and thoughts as well as offering support to one another can foster a sense of belonging and alleviate feelings of isolation.

4. Manage Stress Effectively:

Stress is a common aspect of student life. This is absolutely normal but it’s important to be able to manage stress effectively. As a student it is important that you do so and that you develop strategies such as creating a schedule, breaking tasks into bite size manageable chunks and also practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or meditation outside of your studies. In the future ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva may offer workshops or resources on stress management that you can explore.

5. Stay Informed and Be Mindful:

As a collective we should always keep ourselves informed about mental health resources and initiatives. A lot of resources and be found free of charge online. Attend relevant events and take advantage of the knowledge and resources shared. We at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva also recommend that you practice mindfulness on a regular basis. Mindfulness is a powerful technique for staying present and reducing stress. Incorporate mindfulness practices into your daily routine. These simple actions can include mindful breathing exercises, following guided meditation apps such as calm or head space, or you can even go for a mindful walk to clear your head. By implementing these practices can help you stay focused on your studies, reduce overall anxiety, and improve mental clarity and stability.

We at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva would like to highlight that your mental health is just as important as your academic success! ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva values your well-being and we aim to support you throughout your educational journey. Article done by prof of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva Dario Silic, PhD

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Dario Silic, PhD, Professor of Financial Management at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva, recently visited Frankfurt Stock Exchange. The Frankfurt Stock Exchange, also known as the Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse in German, is one of the largest and most important stock exchanges in the world. This Stock Exchange is one of the oldest stock exchanges internationally as it was established in 1585 and has played a pivotal role in the development of the German economy.

The Frankfurt Stock Exchange is part of the Deutsche Börse Group andissituated in Frankfurt, Germany, a city, which is a leading provider of financial market infrastructure.

This stock exchange offers a wide range of financial instruments including stocks, bonds, derivatives, and other securities. Professor Silic actively teaches ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Geneva students through online or onsite lectures about these financial instruments and its equity in corporate finance classes.

Outside the Stock Exchange in Frankfurt there are two clear statues, one of a bear and one of a bull. The bear symbolises the downtrend market and the bull represents the uptrend market, which clearly demonstrates also the importance of the German conservative and cautious investment policy on capital markets compared to some other countries and stock exchange where you can find only a bull.

Many world-renowned organisations such as Volkswagen, Siemens, and Adidas are based in Frankfurt alongside the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. It is also the heart for trading in the Eurozone and is an important centre for international finance. Germany is also at the forefront of exchanges as over 90% of the companies listed on the exchange are based in Germany and it has a market capitalization of over €1.5 trillion.

The Frankfurt Stock Exchange as previously mentioned is a specific exchange and one of its’  unique features is the Xetra electronic trading system. The Xetra system is one of the most advanced trading systems in the world and it enables investors to trade stocks, bonds, and other securities in real-time, and provides them with up-to-date information on market trends and trading activity. The Xetra facilitates trading of more than 1 million securities, making it one of the most liquid markets in the world.

BaFin also known as theFederal Financial Supervisory Authority regulates the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and it is responsible for ensuring that all market contributors comply with German and European financial regulations. This not only ensures that the exchange operates in a fair and transparent manner but also that investors can have confidence in the integrity of the market. This is extremely vital and helps the credibility of the stock exchange itself.

As already noted a vital part of the German economy and an important centre for international finance is the Frankfurt Stock Exchange itself. This specific stock exchange has enhanced trading systems, strong regulation, and wide range of financial instruments. This offers investors around the world access to some of the best investment opportunities in Europe.

The exchange is often seen as a barometer of the health of the German economy, with fluctuations in the exchange often reflecting broader economic trends. This close relationship with the German economy has made the exchange an important indicator for global investors.
